Submissions

We accept short stories, poetry, creative nonfiction, novel excerpts, interviews, and translations. We also accept photography and visual art. We’re interested in book reviews and interviews with authors, but please pitch your idea to us at info@brinklit.com before sending either a review or an interview.

For poetry and flash fiction, please collate separate pieces into one document. Limit fiction to 7,000 words. Also, please wait until we respond to your submission or pitch before sending us another.

We are now accepting submissions exclusively through via a web-based form. Any written submission must be uploaded as a Word document. For photography and visual art, image files should be compressed and sent as a single ZIP file that is less than 10 megabytes. Images must be at least 480 pixels in width. If you must send a file larger than 10 megabytes, we will accept it via e-mail, at submissions@brinklit.com. If you are submitting multiple short pieces (e.g., poetry or flash fiction) please list all titles in the “Title” box.

Include a biographical blurb of no more than 50 words (no parody or fantasy bios, please). Simultaneous submissions are okay provided you let us know your submission is simultaneous, and that you alert us immediately via our withdrawal form if your piece is accepted elsewhere. We do not consider previously published work.

Brink obtains First North American Serial Rights, First Electronic Rights, and Print/Archival Rights to the pieces we select.

Submissions are open all year; consideration usually requires one to three months. We do not pay contributors.
