October 2008 Editor's Note

October 2008
Dear Reader:

In this issue, Austin Woerner's translations of the ninth-century Chinese poet Li He are accompanied by calligraphic artistry by Heidi Wang. Joseph Gerhard's photos of unmade beds are portraits of the sleepers in absentia. And botanical language graces the poetry of James Stotts, a Russian-language translator and poet.

We'd also like to welcome Jenny Blair, an editor with a passion for narrative nonfiction, and Benjamin Hobbs, our intern, to the Brink editorial staff.

Thanks for reading. We hope you enjoy.

Cheers,
Cedrick Mendoza-Tolentino
